What is phosphosiderite?
A mineral named after its main components: Phosphate and iron. The siderite at the end of its name derives from the greek word for iron: "sideros". It was first discovered in 1890 and it is mined in parts of Chile, Argentina, Germany, Portugal and the United States.
Phosphosiderite can be found as a colorless mineral but there are five color variants for this mineral. The most abundant is bright orchid purple color with streaks of yellow. The other four color variants are rose red, brown-reddish yellow, mossy green, and dark shades of purple.
